On a QUEST to use protein powder

Ever want to use protein powder but not sure what to actually do with it? Sure, you could make a protein shake (*BORING*) but there have to be other ways to utilize it and get more protein in your day!

Sidenote: I’m not encouraging use of protein powder, I believe you can get all the protein you need in whole-foods (think of all the delicious protein sources: beef, eggs, milk, yogurt, beans, fish, etc.). However, protein powder can be a great way to add protein in unique ways – especially for anyone who may not enjoy other sources of protein. 

Quest Protein Powder was kind enough to send me some of their powders to try out and experiment with! (all opinions are still my own though folks). So let’s get to it!

5 Scrumptious (sans-shake) Ways to use Protein Powder:

  1. Coffee
    best part of waking up… Folgers (with Quest protein powder) in my cup

    -Protein powders can make excellent coffee creamers! I used the Salted Caramel flavor from Quest with a splash of half-and-half and it was amazing! Like a creamy latte but filled with protein!

    -I also used the protein powder, coffee ice cubes and milk to make one amazing coffee-shake!

  2. Pancakes

    -I altered Dashing Dish’s recipe for cinnamon roll swirl pancakes using the Vanilla Milkshake flavor and it was Heavenly… Seriously everyone, go check out her site – she’s not only a fabulous recipe developer but all around amazing woman!
  3. Mix into yogurt (anyone noticing the breakfast theme? Sorry, not sorry)
    -Plain yogurt (Greek or otherwise) can get a serious upgrade by adding some protein powder that has on-point flavor. I added the Chocolate Milkshake flavor to vanilla Greek yogurt (protein on protein) and then mixed in some peanut butter and it made one heck of a dip!
  4. Cookies
    Trail Mix Cookies from TheRealLifeRD

    These cookies didn’t call for protein powder but I tossed in a couple tablespoons of the Peanut Butter flavor and it only added to the deliciousness. I also LOVE Dashing Dish’s (told you she was great) breakfast cookie!

  5. Peanut butter jelly time
    Love PB&Js but want more protein in this simple meal? Mix vanilla protein powder (or any flavor you’re feeling) into the peanut butter you’re using (may want to slightly warm the PB to help it mix better) and viola! PB&J full of healthy fats AND protein!

How do y’all use protein powder? Have you tried Quest’s newest varieties? They have a banana flavored kind I’m intrigued to try!
