Oatmeal (a million and one ways)

Let’s talk about oatmeal. So many ways to enjoy the heart healthy, deliciously warm, filling-fibericious bowl of love!

A lot of these ideas are my version of The Oatmeal Artist’s original ideas. I didn’t have her exact ingredients so I made do with what I had…

Mountain Mix

I made 1/3 cup oatmeal with 2/3 cup water, added 1/2 chopped banana and 2 TBSP trail mix. Also involved in the fun was a dash of vanilla, cinnamon and pinch of salt.

Dollop of Delish.

Quite possibly the best oatmeal concoction I’ve made yet – this one is a Kris with Bliss original!

1/3 cup oats, 2 TBSP peanut flour (i.e. PB2 or the like), splash of vanilla, pinch of salt, pinch of Stevia and 1 cup water – cook in microwave. Then add 1/2 chopped banana, a dollop of peanut butter I used my homemade peanut butter that I had added instant coffee to) and a dollop of greek yogurt (caramel macchiato flavor!) -fun fact: macchiato means ‘stained milk’, as in the milk is stained with the addition of espresso 🙂 #knowledgebomb

Wow. Yum. Try it.

Next up: Brownie batter oats

Yes, it happened. 1/3 cup oats, 2 TBSP cocoa powder, pinch of salt, stevia and vanilla, 1 cup water. Cook. Add chopped banana (can anyone guess my favorite fruit by this time in the post?!) Add a nice healthy glob, dollop, spoonful, (however you want to say it) of peanut butter!

Last but not least…

Tropical Paradise!

1/3 cup oats, 2/3 cup water, toasted coconut (about a tablespoon), splash of vanilla, salt and stevia. I also added dried banana chips (mixed it up this time, not just a chopped banana… aren’t you proud of me!) and a tablespoon flaxseed. On top – that wouldn’t just be any ole peanut butter, nosiree. That is Earth Balance’s coconut peanut butter. Seriously people, a genius idea! genius. Peanut butter + coconut = happy dance. Simple math.

So there ya go – hopefully this encouraged you to eat some oats. I tend to go in stages with my breakfast fare… lots of oats one week, only toast and PB the next.

I need more ideas people! Let me know how you eat your oats! 🙂
